The county of Bedfordshire's southern borders are only 30 miles from London. It can be seen as the gateway to the Midlands and East Anglia.

The county of Bedfordshire, including Luton, has a population of 560,000.

There are many areas of outstanding natural beauty and attractions, which include stately homes and gardens, woodland walks and nature reserves, country parks and world famous animal parks such as Whipsnade and Woburn Safari Park. The two major towns in Bedfordshire are Bedford and Luton.

Bedford

In the centre of the county Bedford has easy access to London. This location makes it ideal for commuters who are looking for a more rural life.

The town's history goes back to Saxon times and was important in the reign of King Alfred before the Danes attacked in 1010.

The town now has good shopping facilities and the River Great Ouse makes an attractive feature in the town.

Luton

Luton is the county's major town with a population of 170,000. It is both an industrial centre and a growing residential town.

The location close to London makes it an ideal town for commuters.

There are good shopping facilities with the main shopping centre around George Street and the Arndale Centre. Luton also has a theatre & cinema complexes etc.

Luton is also home to London Luton Airport.
