This first regatta was held in 1885 and is now an important social event. It is held in Higginson Park, the regatta features dragon boat racing, local festival and a firework finale. The regatta is always held two weeks before the famous Henley Royal Regatta and is thought of by many oarsman as a dress rehearsal for Henley.
